oclhashcay continually stops with prompt

$

I have tried a variety of command line inputs.  I have looked through threads on here and through google searches for examples.  No matter what I try, every time I run the program, once it goes through initial start up, it prompts me to:

[s]tatus [p]ause [r]esume [b]ypass [q]uit =>

over and over, usually immediately.  I have looked all over for a fix for this and I can't figure it out.

Here is the latest command I am using:

C:\cuda>cudahashcat64 -m 11600 -g 10000000 output.hash -o solution.txt --outfile-format=3 example.dict

I have tried various other ones but they all do the same thing.

Can anyone help?

could someone help me with a mask?

I've read through the docs several times and they are a bit limited on examples.  I have a couple of words the password might contain and I would like to run through those possible combinations first before an all out brute force attack.  I am trying to run in incremental mode.

I am only getting a very limited keyspace from my mask file.  Obviously something is off.  Please help.

?a?a?a?a?acheeseburger?a?a?a?a?a?a
?a?a?a?a?abattleship?a?a?a?a?a?a
?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a

I have tried adding commas and other things but no dice.  All of the examples have partial words at the beginning, not the middle, so I do not know how that affects it.  I would also like to run through combinations will no, 1, 2, 3, and 4 characters at the beginning and end and combinations thereof.

Thank you for any help.

So My old .pot file has what looks to be a short hash or something that looks like it.  I understand what the pot file does, so I think that means that I solved a hash?  I am brand new to the program so I may not have had it configured to write the password to a file.  I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do with this to get the password.  I tired the --show command which is what I could gather from the docs but it didn't work.  I'm really confused and can't believe I cracked it so quickly so I'm thinking I am mistaken and something else is going on.

I just wanted to ask in case I somehow did get a solution and there is a way to retrieve it.

I know we are not supposed to post hashes but here is the last few characters if that helps with figuring out with what is going on:

(33 characters)1:hash234

Newbie Question Sha512 Password not found

I am a complete newbie but would appreciate some guidance as to what I am doing wrong.

I have a SHA512 hash taken from a Linux user password. The password was set to 12345

I have saved this in a file called hash.lst

$6$jvhsGKzr$DJ.V8JMWBvZjyelp12htqtsgAIL.Al.feDI3nujmlWocBERWCEQlRjj39y2QyxKsbl85up0GZkl6H2eItH9BS1

I have also created a small wordlist called small.txt which contains the correct password 12345

Running hashcat with the following command does not find any results

sudo ./cudaHashcat64.bin  -m 1800 -a 0 "/home/tommy/hash.lst" "/home/tommy/wordlists/small.txt"

I am probably doing something really stupid, but would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

I have tried all variations that I can think of and have posted the ones above I remember (as I had to reboot my machine) and the only one that works is the last one (expander.exe rootkit_found.txt | sort -u my.txt) but the output is confined to the screen and does not save to file.

The first command rootkit_found.txt my.txt expander.exe opens the rootkit_found.txt file in the Emeditor proggy but does not append the above hashes/passwords.

Can someone give me some advice or point me in the right direction for the correct syntax so that I can save the output to file.

qeustion about my hardware and H/s

My GPU is running at about 80-90% utilization.  My status is showing anywhere from 0 to 800 H/s.  The has is a 7zip archive password.

The hardware is a GeForce GTX 880M.  I know it is not the fastest card out there, but it is decent.  Should I be only getting 800 H/s?  Is a 7zip hash just a slow hash?

I am concerned that I will never recover my password at this rate.  Is there any settings I can apply to help with this?  If I try a higher -w it shuts down due to heat.

Here is my command line:

C:\cuda>cudahashcat64 -m 11600 -a 3 output.txt mine.hcmask --custom-charset1=lL --custom-charset2=fF --custom-charset3=aA -w 1 -o itisfinished.txt --outfile-format=15 --status --status-timer=15 --weak-hash-threshold=1000 --session=cold

Newbie help...

Hello all,
I recently installed hashcat on my Mac (using brew cask), and i was wondering how to crack a simple SHA1 hash? I have gotten as far as "hashcat -m 100 -a 3" with the wiki, but I can't figure out where to put the hash. If anyone could help me that'd be great!

Hashcat Gentoo - Cracks hashes twice

Hi.
When I try to crack some hashes using this command:
Code:
./hashcat-cli64.bin -m 2811 -n 32 --username hashes.txt /home/jack/wordlists/
The cracked hashes are put in the hashcat.pot file.
When I use the same command again,it cracks the same hashes that have been previously hacked and double it in the hashcat.pot file.
Is there a way to crack just the hashes have not been cracked yet?

Escaping '?' in mask

I might have missed it in the doc but I was wondering what's the correct way to escape '?' in a mask.

If I do something like:
cudaHashcat64.bin -a 3 -m 0 -1 ? myhash ?1
or cudaHashcat64.bin -a 3 -m 0 -1 ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789? myhash ?1

I don't get an error but it doesn't crack the hash, which for my testing was '?' and '??'

I tried using a hcmask like following:
hcmask = abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789?!@#$%^&*()_+-=,?1

cudaHashcat64.bin -a 3 -m 0 myhash myhcmask.hcmask

and I get:

Syntax error: abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789?!@#$%^&*()_+-=

but if I put a double ? it works it cracks the hash.
hcmask = abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789??!@#$%^&*()_+-=,?1

cudaHashcat64.bin -a 3 -m 0 myhash myhcmask.hcmask

or in command line this works

cudaHashcat64.bin -a 3 -m 0 -1 ?? myhash ?1

Using a double ?? doesn't seem like a standard way of escaping I was expecting \? like for , or #

Hello everyone,

First time here and honestly first time I've tried to use anything like oclhashcat.  I am running into some issues and was told this was the place to go looking for help.

I have a GTX 970 running on a Windows 8.1 box.  I am simply just trying to run the benchmark and after it gets through the sha256 benchmark it errors with the following:

ERROR: cuStreamSynchronize() 719

I am not really sure what I can do to resolve this and google has not been very helpful.

Does anyone have any ideas that could help me resolve this?

Thanks

office2hashcat.py error

I hope it is OK to post on this forum for help with office2hashcat

I am getting the following output when using office2hashcat on a 97-2003 Power Point file.

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "office2hashcat.py", line 2018, in <module>
    ret = process_file(sys.argv[i].decode("utf8"))
  File "office2hashcat.py", line 1995, in process_file
    find_rc4_passinfo_ppt(filename, sppt, offset)
  File "office2hashcat.py", line 1728, in find_rc4_passinfo_ppt
    persistOffset = unpack("<L", stream.read(4))[0]
struct.error: unpack requires a string argument of length 4

I have used the script on a file that I created and password protected and got the hash no problem.

I would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction on how I can extract the hash from this file.

Thank you

oclHashcat simple question

Hey fellas!, I'm new into hashcat etc, the issue I'm having is that I crack md5 passwords with hashcat and save them as output.txt however the problem is that I can see the passwords but not the ID's so I don't know which password is to which ID.

cudahashcat64.exe -a 0 -m 0 --username "hash.txt" w0rdlist.lst -o "out.txt"

cudahashcat64.exe -a 0 -m 0 --username "hash.txt" w0rdlist.lst -o "out.txt" --show

neither of these works.

I want to save like this:

id:password
password = the cracked md5

Can you guys make a bat file for me ?

Hello,

Fresh install of Windwos 8.1, Catalyst 14.9, on Radeon R9 290

Running oclhashcat 1.36, benchmark mode :

Code:
WARN: ADL_Overdrive6_FanSpeed_Get(): -5
and
Code:
HWMon.GPU.#1...: -1% Util, -1c Temp, N/A Fan

Seems like it can't get the temperature and the fan speed
However a tool like GPU-Z can see the fan speed, but not the temperature (0.0°C).

Can I conclude that the temp sensor of my card is dead ?
What about the fan speed sensor, it seems to work, is it an oclhashcat issue ?

Thank you.

Is there a size limit for the input file for hcstatgen?

$

I ran it fine on rockyou.txt, but when I tried it on a wordlist that was several gigs, it seemed to choke.  In taskmanager, it is sitting at 0% cpu usage, 0.5 meg of memory, and no disk usage.  It has been this way for quite a while.

Is there any advantage to using a very large wordlist over a shorter one?  Just curious.  What wordlist do you recommend I use?

Thank you.

Hello lads,

For some reason I am getting 7000 hashes/s against WPA/WPA2 on my gt 430. Is this expected? I have the latest drivers installed as well. I'm running Windows 8 with the latest version of oclhashcat.

Thanks

What to replace my R9-290 ?

Hello hardware experts,

I  have a Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 OC, I would like to replace it, for my budget I've seen the R9 290X or the R9 390.

R9 390 is newer, use less electricity, but has less shading units.

I would like to have :
- faster crack speed
- same or less noise than my current (that's why I don't consider R9 290X2 for example)

What would you advice me ?

Thanks a lot.

Problem running a hcmask

I'm having a hard time getting to understand everything because english is not my main language and I'm a total beginner. I'm sure my problem is explained somewhere on the wiki but I can't find it.
I've made an hcmask with P.A.C.K and I want to run it in hashcat, this is the code I put in.
Code:
cudaHashcat64.exe -m 6100 -a 3 -o cracked.txt hash.txt test.hcmask
I then get,

Status: Exhausted
Input.Mode: Mask (test.hcmask) [11]
Progress: 1/1

I believe it is trying to solve the words; test.hcmask instead of the actual file. How come?
(the hcmask is in the /masks folder where all the other masks are)
