As the screenshot shows, I'm new to using hashcat, I tried to run hashcat, but when I did, it went back to the beginning and asked me to enter the command again. Is something wrong? How can i use hashcat correctly?

Hello,

I have been working on new features for Hashcat and optimizing rules for a few months now.

I am currently stuck on certain rules, and I would like to have GPU-side debugging. I am developing with an NVIDIA 3080 TI, and I would like to use a debugger to see what is happening at the kernel level.

Has anyone ever attached a debugger (nsight) to the kernel executed by Hashcat?

Hello everyone i have a wallet with 1BTC that i havent used since 2021, i have the wallet.dat but didnt save the seed and dont remember the password(i know i know dont flame me), ive been trying btcrecover and hashcat and its not cracking the password, what hashcat command line can i use for it to search a wide array of characters and numbers as i cant think of what password i would of used then. thanks for all the help.

First of all I want to thank you all the hashcat team for the support to this fantastic set of tools.
Particularly I want to thank Zerbea for the unlimited patience to support people like me, that may be have to study more before to ask.
But after studying, what is the 4 way handshake, the RSN IE, after readind many of the documents of the forum that talk about this argument,  I was not able to understand, that's the reason that I am asking to the experts.

After,
sudo hcxdumptool -i wlxd03745123ff7 -o dumpfile.pcapng --active_beacon --enable_status=15
that captured about 78k of data.
hcxpcapngtool -o hash.hc22000 -E essidlist dumpfile.pcapng
record the essidlist file but no one record register in hash.hc22000.
But reading in wireshark the file I can read many EAPOL packet with RSN IE and PMKID fields.
What I need to investigate more.

hi all,

i am a noob to hashcat and i need help.
im running windows 11 with a gtx4060 on a laptop.
every time i go to use hashcat it wont do anything, it says starting, waits about 5 seconds then goes back to typing.
all drivers are up to date, even redownloaded hashcat. still nothing
any help is greatly appreciated.

HELP ME! specific password list generation??

So I usually use crunch to generate my password lists, cuz its easy and straight forward and it usually gets the task i need done, done..

However, after saving up enough hard drives with enough TB to generate the list i want (lol yeah its alot), i realize Im gonna need some masks probably to get it done. I am familliar with hashcat but not as much as I'd like to be, thus, im asking the community for help on this subject.... ???

I live in Canada, BC, and in my area we have an ISP provider called Shaw, and i've been taking down notes of the general  default passwords for the WPA2, and found out that they consist mostly of 12 characters, the first 4 being
2511 .

So that leaves me with 8 characters to fill in. Of which these 8 characters, they may consist of letters A - F and 0 - 9...

This is easy, ive already made lists like this, but it will take up 10 TB of hard drive space to make a full list. that is excessive. so to narrow it down, I want to add to my list, the ability to make it;

- no more than 2 of the same character repeats in a row, so never 3 of the same characters repeatedly.
- no more than 4 letters


since i am not familiar with masks, i am wondering if somebody could tell me how to acheive what i am trrying to do, either with crunch, or totally with hashcat. any help would be awesome, thanks !

FPGA solutions for hashcat

I previously modified the bitcoin miner (cpuminer-opt) to send mining jobs to FPGA for mining via UDP. The actual application is at the following URL.

I am considering rebuilding this process in hashcat for FPGA password cracking.
What I want to ask is, is there a demand for this kind of application? Is it worth investing my time in doing it?

looking for anyway to maximize the effiency of hashcat and could only find cmd options that would help since im not able to adjust the amount of VRAM i can give hashcat.

I use windows.

I submit the following line to the hashcat input: ./hashcat.exe -m 13600 -a 0 'C:\...\hash.txt' 'C:\...\dictionary.txt'.

The console freezes on  "Initializing backend runtime for device #1. Please be patient..." and then on "Initializing backend runtime for device #2. Please be patient..."  and then stops.

This creates a 'kernels' folder in the main directory and 3 files in it.

If I set the DEBUG flag in the makefile, the hashcat writes:

* Device #1: Kernel m13600-pure.868f7afa.kernel not found in cache. Please be patient...
* Device #1: Kernel amp_a0.dac057ce.kernel not found in cache. Please be patient...
and the kernels folder is empty.

AT THE SAME TIME, if I download and run the built project, then there will be no error and everything will be calculated correctly with the same input string. 

the problem is observed only in the project I have built

Password Cracking with ASIC

  First I am familiar with the comments stated regarding the cracking with ASIC

 However, it's now 11 years later, and the cost of electricity has significantly increased. I've been using Vast.ai, but I ran out of funds. My next attempt involves cracking a 10-character password consisting of both lower and upper case letters. Using 8 RTX 4090 GPUs, this would take over a month and cost around €3000.
I was given an Antminer S9 Series. Is there any possible way to use its resources to break a LUKS password? By modifying it.

Hello, currently I'm cracking my wallet, for a long time... it's taking too long and it starts to frustrate me. It's not just the lack of computing power..

I've focused on the combinator attack, but there is an option I made a type error(s). Back in the days, the screens of mobile phones were quite tiny and even doing it twice in a row is is very possiblle.

I have a list of aprrox. 1200 words/numbers I combine with another list of approx. 1200 words.

Is there a way I can generate a new list with all optional type errors, one type error + two type errors?
