Problem with token length exceptions

Hello all,

I'm still fairly new to cracking hashes and im looking for a bit of advice on a project I'm working on for my final year project at university. So I'm attempting to create a small Beowulf cluster of 2-4 pc's with compatible hardware for cracking md5 hashes. I'm using a few python libraries to *attempt* to do this and I'm having an issue with trying to run hashcat through python.

The following code works when running from a command line but when trying to run from the python script I get around 2100 token length exceptions. I shut the other nodes in the cluster down to see if that was causing the issue but no such luck.

if anyone is proficient at python and can point out my mistakes then the section of code trying to run hashcat is here:

Is there anything obvious I should check to try and fix this? I'm thinking its a problem with my script more than anything but just wanted to rule out missing something obvious with my hashcat statement first. I'm aware there are wrappers which in hindsight would have probably been much easier to implement than this backwards method but that will have to be a future project looking into those.

I've checked for the common issues on the faq's but no luck so far!  It's pretty intimidating from first glance so if anyone has any advice I'm keen to learn!

Intel GPU Installation Problem

Hi everyone.

I want to crack using my GPU but I do not know how to enable it.

I have Intel HD Graphics 4000 as my gpu and I have hashcat for windows.


Error:

* Device #1: Intel's OpenCL runtime (GPU only) is currently broken.
             We are waiting for updated OpenCL drivers from Intel.
             You can use --force to override, but do not report related errors.
No devices found/left.


One of the GPU Driver Requirements says:
Intel GPUs on Windows require "OpenCL Driver for Intel Iris and HD Graphics"

I checked Intel's website (here) and I downloaded the Intel® CPU Runtime for OpenCL™ Applications 18.1 for Windows* OS (64bit or 32bit) but I realized it is not for GPU.

I'm quite confused with things like SDK and OpenCL. Can anyone help me out?

Amd gpu is not suitable for hash cracking in office 2013

I use amd gpu to automatically turn off the power of the host when cracking the office 2013 hash. Have you encountered such a problem, and my NVIDIA 1080ti gpu will not turn off the power.

Use amd 480 8g and amd580 4g graphics card. The same problem occurs. I have tried to replace the host power and motherboard memory and other hardware, can not solve this problem. Does the occurrence of this problem and amd gpu not apply to the hash crack of office2013?

I have a file containing mail:hash with different hash types, i extracted all different hashes, cracked them now how do i get mail:pass if there are many types of hashes in one file?

i'm trying to use the hashcat for the first time, for cracking a wpa wifi ... time estimated is 10 YEARS .. i have a Lenovo thinkpad t410 with i5 processor , 4 gb ram and HDD 320 GB ( 70 GB only for The-Distribution-Which-Does-Not-Handle-OpenCL-Well (Kali) and the rest is left space ) ,and Nvidia GT218M [NVS 3100M] , with a rockyou list .. so i'm not planning to wait 10 years as this is too fast and i don't like that kinda of fast thing

Problem with restoring

So i have 2 restore files (i have renamed the other one) and i want to use the renamed one but i can't because when i try to use the command hashcat64.exe --restore-file-path=wpa.restore hashcat just gives me the usage example and no error or anything.

iTunes backup help...

Greetings,

I hope all is well with you.  I was wondering if you could help me with figuring out my iTunes backup.  it has been a week since I decided to backup and restore my iPhone (school work, Childs memories  since birth). 

here's what happened. 
my phone has been giving me issues due to no space even though I deleted a few gigs to combat that problem.  apple forums stated that I had to backup and restore in order to fix the error.  

when it was time to use the backup it asked for a password that I could not remember.  

I know nothing about this field and I am a couple weeks from graduation but my work is in my phone...

for the last 6 days, I researched and basically was able to get the hash.   

Apple told me there is rules to make the pw but my friend showed me it could even be 1 character.   

I know it is going to be hard especially since this is not my field but I am extremely desperate and running out of time.  
can you please help me?  thank you regardless of your decision.

Encoded dictionaries over STDIN

Hi,

I've got multiple dictionaries (filtered duplicates, categorized by password length, alphabetically sorted and fragmented into files with smaller keyspace). I'm trying to pass such dictionaries to hashcat via STDIN to avoid the initial building of hashcat cache and reinitialization for each dictionary which limits the utility of GPUs. I've run into issues with some byte values (0x00 is suppose) which are closing the STDIN and therefore shutting down the hashcat. 

I found a possibility to use --hex-wordlist parameter with STDIN but it requires dictionary conversion to hex and it results in almost double the storage space. Does anyone here know about any other approach? And how do you handle different encodings for repeated usage of the same dictionary as --encoding-to cost a lot of performance which of cause can be made up by throwing in some extra rules?

Is there any wordlists around with all the passwords you should NOT use?
Rockyou is a bit like that, but I would like to have "the great un-ultimate wordlist".
All cartoon characters, beer brands, and the other stuff your password should not be.

can't supress error messages in a txt

I use --force but still getting all the error messages in an output file about the not matching hashes. I'm trying using --show to extract username:plain from a file with different hash types.

As you could read in this post I explained a walk-through for extracting the FileVault hash.
I also explained that this method wasn't working anymore since macOS 10.14 (Mojave).
The tool from JtR (apfs2john, a fork of apfs-fuse) was for the same reason not working anymore.

It appeared that Apple used a 4096 byte sectors in the partition table. (Read this issue on GitHub for more details)

Finally, apfs-fuse got updated and it got forked.
You'll find a working "APFS-hash-extractor" (named apfs2hashcat) on this Github: https://github.com/Banaanhangwagen/apfs2hashcat

The readme explains also the reason of multiple extracted hashes.

I did a search but found an older post that didnt have to much info on it. 

Is there any sites that I can setup my rigs to be rented out? I have 2 systems. 1 with 8 1070ti cards in it and the other has 11 1070ti cards. 

Just figured I might explore this an options since crypto mining isnt that great right now lol

I captured a 4-way handshake in Kismet, downloaded it and tried to run cap2hccapx on it, but get told Networks detected: 0.

The .pcap opens fine in WireShark, so I don't think it is damaged at all. I have also tried aircrack-ng and it displays a blank ESSID and says No matching network found - check your essid.

It is from an iPhone AP, so it's named "[name]’s iPhone". Could the non-ascii apostrophe be at fault?

Kismet's web UI displays the apostrophe as \515250\504848\505149.

Will hashcat support pkzip2? I lot of guys really need it, ofc it's aes-256, but does it really matter if you have a lot of GPU?

Hi guys!
I am running the best/worst pentesting distro (yup, kal) and i knew from the start it would be an issue installing the drivers for my ati RX 470.
But well, long story short, i manage to install rocm with some fight, and when i tried to use it to crack some WPA2 hashes, i saw that it failed.
I tried to run the --benchmark to see what happens and i get this:

(Yes, i added the sudo just in case it was something driver not having permission even though i am root. Don't bully me, ok?)

I think it must be more of an OpenCL issue than a hashcat or Rocm, but do you have any idea of where i should look to fix the problem? It's driving me nuts, and i tried to install rocm on ubuntu (which i though it would be easier) but it's giving me almost the same fight as The-Distribution-Which-Does-Not-Handle-OpenCL-Well (Kali), but as i think i am closer in this distro, i think it would be better.
