Asus ROG Strix GTX 1070 does not work

$

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I'm owning this nice card: Asus ROG Strix GTX 1070 with cuda support with latest drivers from Asus support site.
Trying to use it with hashcat 5.1.0 on Windows 10 PC

Unfortunately, I have an issue. The hashcat doesn't see it at all.
I'm running below commands, just to try how it detects the cards:
hashcat -I
hashcat -b

And no output of these 2 commands Sad
I tried to play with different drivers - installed previous versions from the support site:

https://www.asus.com/Graphics-Cards/ROG-..._Download/

But no luck, hashcat does not see the card. However, any game running with this driver without any problems.
Who can point me please, what am I doing wrong?
Any help appreciated.

I try to use hashcat (V5.1.0) on AWS (p2.xlarge)

it complains

For modern OpenCL performance, upgrade to hardware that supports
CUDA compute capability version 5.0 (Maxwell) or higher.

but using hashcat -I I have

Mask Attacks with Mask File and Custom Charset

Hello everyone,
i know where the wiki is https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=mask_attack but I am struggling to get a custom charset to work with a mask file.
Below hcmask contains several masks. For example:
?l?1?d

I used:

Code:
./hashcat64.bin -m 0 -1 charsets/special/German/de_ISO-8859-1-special.hcchr -2 ?l?u?d?1 -a 3 hash masks/rockyou-1-60.german.hcmask

./hashcat64.bin -m 0 -1 charsets/special/German/de_ISO-8859-1-special.hcchr -2 ?l?u?d?1 -a 3 hash [?1]masks/rockyou-1-60.german.hcmask

./hashcat64.bin -m 0 -1 charsets/special/German/de_ISO-8859-1-special.hcchr -2 ?l?u?d?1 -a 3 hash [?1],masks/rockyou-1-60.german.hcmask

./hashcat64.bin -m 0 -1 charsets/special/German/de_ISO-8859-1-special.hcchr -2 ?l?u?d?1 -a 3 hash [?1,]masks/rockyou-1-60.german.hcmask

./hashcat64.bin -m 0 -1 charsets/special/German/de_ISO-8859-1-special.hcchr -2 ?l?u?d?1 -a 3 hash ?1,masks/rockyou-1-60.german.hcmask

./hashcat64.bin -m 0 -1 charsets/special/German/de_ISO-8859-1-special.hcchr -2 ?l?u?d?1 -a 3 hash ?1masks/rockyou-1-60.german.hcmask

./hashcat64.bin -m 0 -a 3 hash [charsets/special/German/de_ISO-8859-1-special.hcchr]masks/rockyou-1-60.german.hcmask

./hashcat64.bin -m 0 -a 3 hash [charsets/special/German/de_ISO-8859-1-special.hcchr],masks/rockyou-1-60.german.hcmask

./hashcat64.bin -m 0 -a 3 hash [charsets/special/German/de_ISO-8859-1-special.hcchr,]masks/rockyou-1-60.german.hcmask

none of which works. The wiki is not being clear where to put the comma and the [], so i tried basically every combination i could think of.
Could anybody provide me a simple usage example for pipeing the first custom charset to the maskfile?
Thank you.

Slow bcrypt

Hi, when i benchmark bcrypt i get these speeds: (2080ti)

Hashmode: 3200 - bcrypt $2*$, Blowfish (Unix) (Iterations: 32)
Speed.#1.........:    27791 H/s (38.16ms) @ Accel:16 Loops:4 Thr:8 Vec:1

But when i try to crack a hash with pipe:

Hash.Type........: bcrypt $2*$, Blowfish (Unix)
Time.Started.....: Mon Apr 15 11:00:47 2019 (3 mins, 1 sec)
Time.Estimated...: Mon Apr 15 11:03:48 2019 (0 secs)
Guess.Base.......: Pipe
Speed.#1.........:      779 H/s (39.55ms) @ Accel:16 Loops:4 Thr:8 Vec:1

Without pipe:

Time.Estimated...: Mon Apr 15 11:53:06 2019 (48 mins, 16 secs)
Guess.Queue......: 1/1 (100.00%)
Speed.#1.........:      897 H/s (37.65ms) @ Accel:16 Loops:4 Thr:8 Vec:1

I have also tried with prince, same speeds, is there any way to make bcrypt run faster?
why is the benchmark going for 27791 H/s and a single hash going at 897 H/s ?

i'm trying to use the hashcat for the first time, for cracking a wpa wifi ... time estimated is 10 YEARS .. i have a Lenovo thinkpad t410 with i5 processor , 4 gb ram and HDD 320 GB ( 70 GB only for The-Distribution-Which-Does-Not-Handle-OpenCL-Well (Kali) and the rest is left space ) ,and Nvidia GT218M [NVS 3100M] , with a rockyou list .. so i'm not planning to wait 10 years as this is too fast and i don't like that kinda of fast thing

Brain is much slower than expected

Hi all, hope I can get some help.

I am making runs with hashcat brain/client but find that it performs worse than using hashcat by itself. The speeds tend to drop by a factor of 1000x, from MH/s to KH/s. The time.est. status remains roughly the same. However, the "Rejected" status often shows a significant reduction in the candidate space, from 25%-99%.

I have tried on ec2 p2.xlarge and p3.2xlarge instances as well as with different algos- MD5, PHPass, VB. Nothing seems to show improvement when using brain. In all cases, I run server on the same box as client, so there are no network bottlenecks to worry about.

Please let me know what other information would be useful to know! Thanks!

Module 5500 - different results for same hash (with or without client challenge part)

$

Hi, i just test example hash (password hashcat) provided here on Hashcat.net (https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=example_hashes)

for module m 5500 is expected format:
Code:
u4-netntlm::kNS:338d08f8e26de93300000000000000000000000000000000:9526fb8c23a90751cdd619b6cea564742e1e4bf33006ba41:cb8086049ec4736c

a lot of people recommend use this short format (user, response, challenge):
Code:
u4-netntlm::::9526fb8c23a90751cdd619b6cea564742e1e4bf33006ba41:cb8086049ec4736c

but hashcat doesn't find password for this short format. When i run it on original format, hashcat works ok:
Code:
u4-netntlm::kNS:338d08f8e26de93300000000000000000000000000000000:9526fb8c23a90751cdd619b6cea564742e1e4bf33006ba41:cb8086049ec4736c

I use for testing short dictionary where i put correct password. Command-line is the same for both test only hash is changing. I find that 3 striped part from the hash cause - password is not found.

I want use it on mschapv2 dump and all i have is: user, domain, response & challenge. Is it possible recover pswd without this 3 part? Or maybe i use bad module? (but all people references use 5500) I play first with example hashes to be sure it's all working.

Dell 5820 with high power GPU

Hello forum

normally Dell ships it's 3D workstation 5820 (with an 860 watt power suppply) and 7920 (with an 1300 watt power suppply) workstation with Nvida Quadros.

Can such a Quadro card be replaced by high power GPU (actively cooled), especially when it comes to the
power connector? Other things to consider?

Thank's a lot!

Joe

PS
I like this chassis because of it's storge options (6 flex bays, for HDD's or SSD's)

Slow-Hash-SIMD-LOOP

I'm new to Hashcat and have been learning how to use it. I was able to crack some test files and some veracrypt containers of my own making for practice. Recently I have been trying to get into a veracrypt container that I forgot the password to.

I've tried the applicable hash types for veracrypt 13713, 13723, 13733 and 13753, but at some point I noticed HC added an Optimizer called 'Slow-Hash-SIMD-LOOP' and that significantly reduces the speed. Basically I could get through a 5 character standard password in a reasonable time. Now with this optimizer it takes ~20 minutes just to test the first 95 possibilities on the first character of the password. Before the optimizer was added it would get through the first 2 or 3 characters of the password kinda fast. I can't seem to find a way to disable it and can't find any mention of it on the forums.

The command I'm using is
.\hashcat64.exe -w3 -m 13753 -a 3 hash.txt -i --increment-min=1 --increment-max=6 ?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a

Just to try it I did add -S to the above command for Slow Candidate generation and that didn't seem to change anything

Any help is appreciated. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or didn't use the right search in the forums.

I launched a rule based dictionary attack, stopped it at like 12% and when i launch the same attack again hashcat removes already found hashes but finds 0 new, what could be the problem? I guess there is something wrong since it happens literally every time and idk what to do here, not stopping attacks at this point but ubuntu freezes completely sometimes so i need to reboot the computer.. any help would be appreciated thanks.

Hashcat not actually cracking the hash

Hello,

I am in a course this semester about various hacking techniques and we are currently working with hashcat and some basic VMs our professor set up. I've run into an issue that has me stumped and my professor cannot recreate it.

Version 4.2.1 running on The-Distribution-Which-Does-Not-Handle-OpenCL-Well (Kali) Linux in a VM environment on my Windows 10 machine via Oracle VM

I am taking a hash file I have (hash.txt) and running it against the basic John the Ripper password list we have. At first I was getting HEX output, and when I translated it I got the first line in the password.lst file, a comment about who made the list. Then I went in and deleted the comments and added the string --outfile-autohex-disable to my command. Now I didn't get hex, but I get the first line again, now password 12345. I know for a fact from running another form of password cracking that this is not the password.

My professor took my file and entered the same command line I did <hashcat -m 1000 --force --potfile-disable --outfile-autohex-disable hash.txt /usr/share/john/password.lst> and it worked fine for him.

I did a little searching and found a few other questions threads around with this same question, but all of them were closed because this seems to be unrecreatable. If anyone has any suggestions as to why this isn't working I would gladly appreciate the help. I can provide screen shots if needed but the contain the hash and I didn't want to break the forum rules.

Thank you.

Hello, I have data in the format

If it decodes with ignored username, I have only the passwords.

I want to have username: password

Anyone have an idea how to do it? I can decode by haszkiller, but how to remove random hash in file?

Hello forum

My idea is to buy a 4 way Brutalis and update it with additional GPU's for the case it's required.

Would I need to buy a new Haststack-license from Sagitta (is Hashstack licensed per GPU's or per machine) ?

Thank's a lot!
