Can not crack some example of hashes
some of example Hash-Mode could not be crack. like:
RAR5 --> 13000
Winzip --> 13600
i use hashcat version 4.1
my device is AMD Radeon 6970
hash is example of hashcat in https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=example_hashes
driver is catalyst-15.7 and windows 10, 64 bit
but i crack this with NVIDIA 1080 ti
why radeon 6970 can not crack?

Zip Problem Still exists
Hey there ,
First something about my system :
Ok so when i try to get the hash of it with zip2john (included in the The-Distribution-Which-Does-Not-Handle-OpenCL-Well (Kali) rel.)
i get an hash that looks very similar to the example hash for the zip file but there is a name of the file also inside the hash? WTF ??.

When loading pw.hash to the windows hashcat it gives me this error :
Whats wrong here ? the hash is not like the example one ok.
So i thought i might be the zip2john version.
Installed the new version did the same command and got hashes like :
When loading these hashes into hashcat on win machine i get :

Please let me know, what i do wrong ?
Used different versions of zip2John...
tried them with cutting and without ....
Would be nice to get some help here...
I want to run it on the gpus .... so i need to use hashcat :-)

Restore File How to Use it
So, i start cracking some hashes in a server, i saved
hashcat entire folder
hashcat.restore file
hashes
potfile.
Now i put all together again, i run the same command, and hashcat instead of using thath restore point, it starts from the beggining again. WHY?

hello, trying to run hashcat, which give me this error:

Raspberry pi's (with gpsd) are great for searching for PMKIDs and sending them to hashpass along with GPS data. Set up SMS notifications so that while your driving with your Raspberry pi you can get notifications of cracked passwords. At this point you can look at the hashpass map view to see exactly where your cracked networks are and go drop off a different raspberry pi for some network recon fun.
I must thank atom and ZerBea on their amazing work with the new PMKID method. You sirs have giving me lots of entertainment!

hashcat64 4.2.1 getting killed OOM
Hello!
With the latest version of hashcat, when I try to run a benchmark it runs for a moment then gets killed pretty fast (4-5 sec) while starting the MD5 benchmark.
Earlier versions of hashcat haven't had this issue.

Obviously it wouldn't hurt to throw more ram and a better proc at it, but for now I'm looking for an explaination on what changed in this version; if there's any tuning I can do either with a hashcat config switch; tuning linux itself.

Base password permutations
So, let's imagine we have a user with a known base password of "Password" and we know the user likes to use 1-4 other numbers or special chars to either append their password, or insert the same range of numbers or special characters randomly WITHIN the root password. Or, potentially, both within and appended, but only a total of 1-4 total 'extra' characters.
So I've been able to figure out how to append the root password pretty easily using a custom charset with /d /s and incrementing the total length from 9-12, effectively generating 'Password1' through 'Password~~~~', but I can't figure out an equally easy way to do that within the word in order to effectively generate 'P1assword'-'P~~~~assword' through 'Passwor~~~~d' and, ideally, even stuff including both appended and within the word additions, such as 'P1assword~~~' and so on, within those parameters.
Am I missing an easy way to include incremented custom charsets within a known root word?
Something like the iNX function (or maybe the ipX), but with the N incremented, and the X using a custom charset.
FWIW, computationally speaking, this would be to generate a dictionary to use against a slow hash with known salts, but high iterations.

Pls help - simple rule does not work!
hashcat version: 4.2.1
==============
1st I try this:
hashcat64.exe -m 2500 -a 0 crackme.hccapx "C:\WORDLISTS\simple.txt"
(where "simple.txt" contains only the word "password123")
Result: hash is cracked
Now I put a simple rule "$1$2$3" in a file named "TEST.rule" and execute:
hashcat64.exe -m 2500 -a 0 crackme.hccapx "C:\WORDLISTS\simple.txt" -r rules\TEST.rule
Result: not cracked
If I force hashcat to display what candidate(s) it creates/uses with:
hashcat64.exe -m 2500 -a 0 crackme.hccapx "C:\WORDLISTS\simple.txt" -r rules\TEST.rule --stdout
The console outcome is gibberish. There is a final line that contains "password123" yet the hash somehow fails to crack.
Any ideas?

Advice on Rack Chassis for RTX FE GPUs
Hey all,
as we had to learn from nVidia, their FE cards will come with axial cooler solutions. We ordered 2x 2080Ti FE at my conpany, as nearly everyone here is really swearing on FE cards in general. Only exception from that I read so far was a post by GrepItAll in here https://hashcat.net/forum/thread-7748-po...l#pid41844
Now the questions for us is, where to put them, because we just got a cabinet with plenty of space left. In fact, it is really hard to find a GPU rack chassis which is compatible with axial cooled GPUs and my research in the forum here also did not yield good results for me.
If there is no suitable solution, I would also consider giving back the FE and ordering 4x Asus Turbo 1080Ti but that is not my decision and also heavily depends on the performance we will see from the two FE cards.
Any tips or suggestions are appreciated.

Kerberos v.5 hashing key
Good day.
I have some troubles with Kerberos v.5 and Hashcat.
So, I`ve made two virtual machines, both of them are in Active Directory domen. So, machine 2 connects to machine 1 using KRB5 protocol. Machine 2 has it`s own User in domain, with it`s password. Is the password used like a key to make Kerberos v.5. hash?
I`m trying to crack KRB5 hash using hashcat. This hash was analyzed by Wireshark when Machine 2 and Machine 1 were communicating. ThePassrod12 - is the User`s password in Active Directory domain.

Trying to figure out which video card to get
Hi,
I'm somewhat new to this forum, but I had a question on video card selection.
I'm currently trying to figure out which video card to get for my new work machine. I tried out hashcat on my main gaming machine that has a 1080 ti and it had really amazing performance. But for my work machine I need to build myself and about 4-5 others in the office some semi decent machines. Only myself and one other person work with cracking hashes etc.... But we don't really mind buying used or new, so we are currently looking at these 4 cards.
The RX 480, r9 fury gtx 970, or the gtx 1060.
It has been awhile since I've needed to buy hardware for something like this. I know since maxwell nvidia has been much better lately. I'm just curious which one of these would be the fastest. Again I'm just kind of new to the newer stuff currently out there.

Hi, I want to buy a GPU (or maybe more) only for hack, but don't know what to buy. I want only use it for hack so i don't want waist my money on graphic quality (games).

How to tell hashcat to make all passwords uppercase?

I'm benchmarking eHarmony's MD5 list, using password lists and I either need to write a script to convert all passwords to uppercase, or use a rule to do it for me, along with good rules to try variations of the passwords in the lists.
What is a really good ruleset you've used, and how do I force all rules to make the passwords uppercase while trying append 1, 123, special chars, etc? If you know...
I've been reading and it appears to me my special need is a rule list that looks like this:

Super cheap GTX rentals - Vast.ai
I've been using Vast.ai with hashcat for about a month. Crazy cheap prices for high end GPU's and systems. They're targeting AI/ML people but you can use the GPU's for anything.
You have direct access to your rented GPU/machine, can SCP hashcat and files over and then use SSH to run your commands.
Most 1080ti's are under $0.15/hr. 70ti's for under $0.10/hr.
Beat's the hell out of renting from AWS or Google Cloud for 10x the price.
I'm just about done with my cracking for the time being so figured I would post a thread to share with others!

With the versione 5.0.0 works but the program tells me to set --brain-password.
