Hy

I usually browse google for this kind of questions, but this time i didnt mannaged to find me an answer to my question.
Can somebody please tell me what can be expected from FirePro v7800? Or if someone owns it, can you please post benchmark result?

I have a chance to get a few of those cards quite cheap, but i failed to find oclHashcat benchmark of it anywhere.

Hello, 

I can't get to build hashcat 2.00 under El Capitan.
When I run the script :

sudo sh tools/deps.sh

I get 

"dpkg: error: failed to open package info file '/usr/local/var/lib/dpkg/status' for reading: No such file or directory
! failed to install libssl0.9.8"

It maybe boils down to dpkg manager under Mac OS X. I have installed it with brew, but it warned:


"==> Caveats
This installation of dpkg is not configured to install software, so
commands such as `dpkg -i`, `dpkg --configure` will fail."


Is there any other way to run this?

Hello everyone. I'm posting here because i've searched both in the wiki and in the forum, but i couldn't find a solution. Here's my problem: I'm trying to find out a sha256 hash, knowing that the original string is 64-characters long, and that contain only a "?dabcdef" (numbers 0-9, and 'a' to 'f' letters) charset. I've created, with crunch, a wordlist composed by 8-characters words (considering only with max. 2 consecutive characters), and I'd like to create a chain with 8 of this words at time, creating in this way a 64-characters word. 
Knowing this, i run on my terminal:
$ hashcat -m 1400 -a 8 -1 --pw-min=64 --pw-max=64 ?dabcdef path_to_wordlist/my_wordlist.lst path_to_hashes/my_hashes.txt 
But everytime it gives me the error: "Value of --pw-max (64) must be smaller or equal to 32".
I don't know what's the cause for the problem. I'm a newbie in this field, and probably i'm missing something due to my (very) low knowledge. I would really appreciate any kind of help.

Edit: I also tried to run command with "--elem-cnt-min=8" and "--elem-cnt-max=8", but after 2 seconds it stop.

wpa/wpa2 crack of multiple hccap

Goodevening all,
i have different wpa/wpa2 handsakes in hccap format that i would like have them merged into a single hccap file so i would be able to run a dictionary attack (instead of multiple).
i copied all the handsakes in the same folder and executed (accordind to https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=fre...es_at_once):

copy *.hccap all_handsakes.hccap

The problem that i am encountering now is that when i execute the dictionary attack i am not able to recover any hash (one hash is already inside the dictionary). 
If i run the dictionary attack on each single hccap file i am able to recover the hash contained in the dictionary for the known network.

Am i doing something wrong? 
Is this because i merged wpa and wpa2 handsakes together?

the command line i use for the dictionary attack is:
hashcat-cli64 -m 2500 --status -o recoverd.txt all_handsakes.hccap wordlist.txt

So i'm pretty new at hashcat. I'm trying to crack some md5(phpbb3) hashes, but I feel like the speeds are pretty slow. I mean the estimated time is over 2 years lol. Does this mean I should use the cpu version of hashcat?

wordlist+mask attack or else

Hola! I'm new to the world of wpa/wpa2 cracking (I'm not interested in wps attack).
A read few article about crack/brute forcing the "four way handshake" that I get airodump-ng but I stil have some doubts.
I read that *hashcat support different type of attacks like mask brute force and hybrid.
Can I use a public prebuild NTLM rainbow table 9 digit mixalphanumeric or should I create a wordlist in plaintext?
I ask this because is easy find rainbow table with long charset but are all encoded in ntlm or sha o md5.
So I don't known if should I continue tring with Hybrid mask + dict attack or spend time/money to create a 1-9 digit mixalphanumberic wordlist.

Understanding "Recovered..." field

I've been tinkering with a salted SHA1 for practice, and have been getting confused with the "Recovered field."

When hashcat fails to find the password, I see the below. What I'm not following is that the salt is supplied with -m 110 following the PASS:SALT format, so why does it not at least show 1/1 Salts?

"Recovered......: 0/1 (0.00%) Digests, 0/1 (0.00%) Salts"

REMOVING DUPLICATE HASHES, WHAT IS THIS...?

hi bro,
I use cudaHashcat-v1.37 to recovery WEP,WPA. I get a problem, when i run command line:
cudaHashcat -m 2500 -a 0 myhash mydict
it worked and very strong. But when i run cudaHashcat like a service of windows, and print result to a file, i got some text like this:

Comparing hashes with potfile entries...                                       
Structuring salts for cracking task...                             
Generating bitmap tables with 16 bits...

I google it, and I tried to use other versions (v 2.0, v 1.31), the result is not change. When I use hashcat(run like a service of windows) it worked.
My system: windows 8.1, Nvidia GeForce GTX 980, driver version: 9.18.13.4762, and cuda tool.
What 's the matter, and what should i do?

Is it possible to increase the max salt length for -m 20 md5($salt.$pass)?
I've got a 53 character long salt and Hashcat fails to crack it. Working great with less character salts
(salt is: ac8e67b1c8a467b55f0c5de2f69d07ab9ed6f64e5487955f8afd3)

I'm VERY new to cracking hashes, I only got hashcat because my friend said we could make a lot of money. 

I don't know how to do anything other than open cmd in the hashcat directory.

Any tips, and links to other posts/videos would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi all.

I have a file with 100 SHA1 hashes and I'm trying to crack them using cudaHashcat. So far I recovered 90 plaintext passwords, using rockyou as wordlist and dive.rules as rules file. The attack mode I used is the straight one.

I'm not exactly sure how to crack these 10 missing hashes. I guess these are the "hard passwords", or at least harder than the recovered ones?

Should I try to "extract" some kind of pattern from the 90 recovered passwords? And write some custom rule based on this pattern?

Searching on the forum, I found some interesting posts like this one: https://hashcat.net/forum/thread-3933.html
However I'm not sure whether it makes sense for my usecase, as rockyou seems to be already a good enough wordlist.

Now I`m trying to run oclHashcat and just get an ERROR: clCreateCommandQueueWithProperties() -6

Recovering password for pfx file

Hi,

first my problem I want to solve. I have a password-protected mail key (pfx file) for which I forgot the exact password. I'm able to make a very good educated guess, though. Because of this it won't matter if I use oclHashcat or hashcat, but I need help in setting up oclHashcat, or, to be more precise, to figure out which hash type I'm targeting at and the correct syntax for starting the tool. I started from one of the examples and change it to my knowledge.

So, first goal is to get the tool running correctly with the right hash type, the attack mode is irrelevant for now. I'm doing this on Windows, by the way. Opening the pfx file with a text editor shows me strings like "SHA-256 Client Authentication", so my current start command looks like this:

oclHashcat64.exe -m 1400 -a 3 -o result.txt key.pfx ?l?l?l

This results in a line length exception, my understanding is that this usually indicates a wrong hash type. I tried several other 14X0s hash types with the same result. I'm a bit lost now, I have the feeling that I'm doing it wrong with the pfx file. Do I have to extract the actual hash from the file?

Hello,

I've got the lower case password of a Hash. Now I want to Brute Force this hash, to get the case sensitive password. How can I do this?

Example:
lower case password: (known)            abcdefg
case sensitive password: (unknown)   aBcdeFg

How do I need to set the mask, to change the letters to brute force both upper and lower case?
