ERROR: cuModuleLoad() 209 - Kali 1.0.9 - cudahashcat-1.3.1 - newb

Hi all, thanks for reading this thread.

As detailed in a thread earlier by another user, i am getting the error

ERROR: cuModuleLoad() 209

when running ./cudaHashcat32.bin -m 2500 file.hccap wordlist.txt

-----
To give a bit of background on my environment i have a Nvidia GT630.

To get this far in making hashcat work with my environment i followed the following tutorial: http://www.blackmoreops.com/2014/06/27/k...ia-driver/ & http://www.blackmoreops.com/2014/06/30/k...uda-pyrit/ (apparently a 2 part tutorial).

This installed perfectly fine however where asking in part 2 for apt-get install python2.7-libpcap, i couldnt only find "python-libpcap" after installing this and continuing on the tutorial - i had no install issues.

-----------

as far as i can obtain, my video card is working properly. on my headend X sessions running GLXINFO provides nice output and i get the following when running:

#pyrit list_cores
Pyrit 0.4.0 © 2008-2011 Lukas Lueg http://pyrit.googlecode.com
This code is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3+

The following cores seem available...
#1: 'CUDA-Device #1 'GeForce GT 630''
#2: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)'
#3: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)'
#4: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)'
#5: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)'
#6: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)'
#7: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)'
#8: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)'

&

# lspci | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK107 [GeForce GT 630] (rev a1)

------

I noticed in the thread below it suggested reinstalling the Nvidia driver from the nvidia site however when i dropped my Xsession and attempted to run

#sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-340.58.run

it advises me that i need to uninstall the packages i did with the debian install.

To be honest i have no idea on what they are..... i assume from the tutorials.

Either way when downloading Cuda from hashcat, i get the above error and would ever so love to get rid of it as i got this box specifically for doing GPU crunching Smile as im an osx boy and understand that hashcat cant go on osx Smile

Hey All,

I was curious if anyone had used the GrayMatter GPU Server Barebones kit. It appears to be much more affordable than some of the 8gpu rack mount systems. overall the case looks good with quite a bit of air flow. Would this configuration also work well for cracking? while the build is initially targeted toward miners.

more information here is available if anyone is interested:

Calculating --keyspace for attack mode 1

$

I've read a couple of other threads about how oclHashcat calculates --keyspace. So I am aware not everything that looks like a bug is a bug but "the deep workings of oclHashcat". I have however not seen any threads about attack mode 1, combinator.

hashcat\oclHashcat32.exe -m 0 -a 0 hashlists\2 files\alla.dic --keyspace
41756867

hashcat\oclHashcat32.exe -m 0 -a 1 hashlists\2 files\alla.dic files\alla.dic --keyspace
41756867

Shouldn't the keyspace for -a 1 be ~41756867^41756867?

Very slow at the end (>=1.30)

I have a problem:
ocl64 and cuda64 v.130 and 1.31

Sometimes for attack methods Combinator and Hybryd
(1 dict smaller then 2-nd or mask keyspace; MD5, NTLM about 100 hashes)
(may be another too)
at the end of work (after ~96-97%)
very power decrease of speed (last 1% especially).
Fore example sometimes i have time of 95% work smaller then
time of last 5 % work.
(and 1.01 total time very smaller then total time 1.31)

At listing i have this string:
INFO: approaching final keyspace, workload adjusted

I used all combinations of workload_profile, gpu_accel and gpu_loops.

Can I deside this bug?
Can I block "workload adjusted" ?

CudaHashcat64 doesn't recocnize GPU?

Goodday,
I wash trying out Cudahashcat64 on my windows 8.1 64 bit system with cudahashcat 1.31.
It seems like it is not recocnizing my GPU

GPU is: MSI Nvidia Geforce 660 TI PE OC

Using this command: cudahashcat64 -m 2500 -a 3 c:\Directory\out.hccap ?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a

This is what I get using that command after that I pressed s for status.

Tell me, how do I connect hashcat in many dictionaries to attack on WPA hash in my folder are many files .dic and .txt extensions, as I do not use all of them without association one file?

And the second question, whether through hashcat limit the generation of hash for the password that is less than 8 characters (for the WPA hash is not necessary)

Thanks.

Any available rented gpu power?

Hi,

I'm looking into running some stuff, and I'm wondering: is there any calculation power that we can rent?

From my research, I understood that:

- Amazon instances are ridiculous - way not enough powerful
- Bitcoin mining rigs: from what I understand, it's just impossible

Can someone confirm both those points?

And has anyone any idea where I might rent some calculation power usable with hashcat?

thanks ;-)

R9 290X Reference Design Comparison

$

Hello everyone! Sorry, newbie here. I'm looking into the possibility of using GPU-based computing for machine learning in an ongoing project and learning some pentesting skills on the side. I still have a lot of reading to do before building my server, but I'm ready with a couple questions re: the Radeon R9 290X.

Around mid October, Radeon R9 290X prices fell in reaction to the release of NVIDIA's GTX 980 and GTX 970. As bitcoin mining operations switch to ASICs or give up the trade entirely, online marketplaces are becoming saturated with pre-owned 290X cards. Nowadays, used 290X cards are going for $190-240 on eBay. I had my eye on this card since last December, and it seems like the perfect time to snag one or two for my server.

I know that I should buy a reference design, not an OEM design. I'm not clear on all of the reasons, but from what I understand, this is due to two factors. First, the main exhaust vent in the 290X reference design is located at the rear, which should help avoid overheating whenever multiple cards are used in a server. Second, it seems that a lot of OEMs are not fully implementing Powertune 2.0 on their cards (src). This will interfere with temperature control.

But what about buying reference design cards from OEMs? (Or otherwise rebranded?) Is there a difference between, say, Sapphire's and XFX's reference R9 290X?

Here is a list of all of the R9 290X reference design cards I could find:
Battlefield 4 versions were excluded from this list. There's also VisionTek (900653 or 900654). Their current version is an OEM design, but if you search around, you should be able to find a few with the same id but in reference design. Additionally, I've seen quite a few used 290X reference design cards that have an AMD brand sticker on the fan, but I could not find a product listing for them on AMD's website. I am guessing that they are the oldest of the bunch.

If I'm looking to buy one of the above cards, does it matter what brand I buy? Are some more reliable / perform better than others for our purposes? Has anyone had any major issues with any of the above 290X reference cards? Or is there really no difference at all aside from price, warranty, and customer service? (I'm not at all concerned about warranty, for what it's worth.)

I'm currently strongly considering buying one or two used XFX 290X Core Edition cards. They tend to sell for cheaper than Sapphire, which seems to be the go-to brand for the 290X. Is this purely a matter of reputation, or should I be concerned? (Aside: related thread re: running 4x XFX 290X.)

Thanks in advance for any advice!

psafe3 (-m 5200)

I've been trying different hash types and have had some success, but still struggling with the psafe3 hash.

I donwloaded the hashcat.psafe3 sample from the website, which I can open using PasswordSafe and a password of 'hashcat', so far so good.

But when I try to confirm using oclhashcat (1.31) with the following command line, it fails to resolve? The file passwords.txt contains the word 'hashcat' so I'm confused?

oclhashcat64.exe" -m 5200 -a 0 hashcat.psafe3 passwords.txt

Can someone tell me what I'm missing please?

Thanks in advance.

Question re attacking one (1) hash....!

I am trying to recover the message/string hashed by HMAC SHA-256. I am not as familiar with HMACs so this is where my confusion is centered. If I had only one SHA-256 hash, I don't think I could get much from it.

But let me explain:

The string which was hashed by HMAC SHA-256 authey is as follows: (E||PN||DH1||DH2)

I know the values of E, DH1, and DH2. [Actually DH1 and DH2 are the public DH keys between two network devices (one wishing to join, and the other authenticating through various steps to allow it).] What should make this rather easy is that the segment of the message I want (PN) is a number between 0000 and 9999.

I have played around with hashcat for the past few days....and a few years ago I had success with a file of SHA-1 hashes, so I know how hashcat works (or some of the features anyway), but of all my skills or areas of knowledge, working with hashes is a weak area (I know encryption...just not hashes). I have read the man pages and looked around the web, and what I would like to know is

1. I presume I can brute force this value...probably by first sticking this hash by itself in a file. But I am still unsure if this is possible since I only have this one hash. is this possible?

2. Would I need to construct any rules for this??? Again, I doubt it... but just wanted to check.

I know to most of you this is probably pretty simple... but I have read everywher and even bothered a few subs at Reddit, but I cannot get a decent answer...

Much appreciation in advance!!!

ocl1.31 + NVidia 343.22 - error cuModuleLoad() 301

hi all,
i have a thread below however in an attempt to fix the issue i have blown away that instance and started again so im starting fresh Smile

I have installed kali on my dedicated crunching computer and have an NVIDIA GT 630 in it.

I have installed originally the NVIDIA 340.65 drivers as thats the latest ones that are on the nvidia site (by using the normal search) however i saw the thread here: http://hashcat.net/forum/thread-3710.html detailing that i need to use 343.22 with 1.31. So i went and grabbed them and installed them over the top of 340.65.

However im still getting the error: cuModuleLoad() 301 when doing the following command

#./cudaHashcat32.bin -m 2500 -a 0 /root/hash.hccap /usr/share/wordlist/rockyou.txt

Thanks.

how to crack MD5 middle with MASK attacking mode?

$

Hi Folks,

I'm cracking a MD5-middle hash of password "EfEVp5953R" using below command(MASK mode).
./hashcat-cli64.bin -a 3 -m 5100 hashes/1.txt EfEVp5953R

But it seems "M 5100" only works for "left half" not work for "middle half" and "last half".
More specific, if I put "40030674df2ef9d7" into hashes/1.txt, the password can be recovered; if I put "b1db24f7416abeee" or "df2ef9d7b1db24f7", it can not recovered.

Any switch/option to enable the middle/right MD5?

Thank you very much!

Jun

P.S.
MD5{EfEVp5953R}=40030674df2ef9d7b1db24f7416abeee

Was looking through the forms and seen a few discussions on this topic, but haven't seen any one saying it affected there speeds. Yesterday I connected two 6970's, in a x16 both directly into the board, and a 290, in a x1 slot, with a x1 to x16 riser cable and the 290 is running slower than either 6970 using md5 and wpa2. Is this normal or do I need to reconfigure my cards for maximum bandwidth?

The riser cable is a ribbon non-powered.
