Is there a way to crack these kind of passwords or does it require a feature request?

I am getting 1700kH/s when cracking joomla hashes, is this way too low? It seems like it should be bruteforcing much faster.

Minor bug found (?)

Hi, all. I'm using the cudahashcat version 1.21.
I found this: If I run cudahashcat over a hashlist, and after that, I run the same command with '-o' option, the hashs will match the '.pot' file and will not save the results to the output file.
Can someone confirm this please?
Thank you very much for your time and attention.

Hello, please help me. oclHashcat does not use one of the two cards.
My config:
Windows 7 pro 64
2 x Radeon R9 290X TRI-X
oclHashcat v1.21
AMD Driver ver. 14.4

Windows sees that is installed and running two cards:

But oclHashcat uses only one card:

.jpg  2014-07-26_004612.jpg (Size: 129.61 KB / Downloads: 16)

What should be done to oclHashcat used both cards. Before updating the drivers and programs worked both cards...

hey, this is probobly an stupid question.

I can't get oclhashcat or hashcat to work with GUI og with cmd batch file in win 7. I have tried man example command lines that i have copied and pastet and edited to suit my configuration.

What happens when i run the GUI i get the Eula up in cmd window but when i write yes it wont start like all the youtube help video's shows.

And when i run the batch file it seems it goes into some pointles endless loop.

C:\Users\Main\Desktop\Hashcat GUI\oclHashcat-1.21\oclHashcat64.exe -m 0 -a 3 combo_not.txt -o Cracked.txt ?a?a?a?a?a?a

have attached the endless loop of the cmd and i what settings i used in hashcat GUI in a picture attachment.

Trying to bruteforce some password from the linkedin hashlist just for fun.
are there some problem with my batch file?

I am not very good at this kind of thing but i am learning.
thanks for any help.

Three hd7970 = OS hang

$

Hey Guys,

recently three of my older cards brick (1 x hd5970, 1 x hd6990 and 1 x hd7970) so bought three hd7970's.

The new cards are all GIGABYTE GV-7970C-3GD which are overclocked to 1000mhz by vendor.

Problem is that when running them in parallel the OS hangs after 1-2 minutes.

But I think the GPUs are ok because if I run them solo with -d 1, -d 2 and -d 3 the OS does not hang. It's only if I run at least two in parallel the OS hangs. It doesn't matter if they run it in a single or in multiple oclHashcat instances.

To sort out the problem i tried a lot of different scenarios but now I am out of ideas Sad

First I tried them on two different systems that I use for a couple of time with other GPUs:

1st:

- Intel I7 4770k
- ASUS Z87 Expert
- Ubuntu 14.04 lts, 64 bit

2nd:

- Intel I7 4770k
- ASUS Z87 A
- Ubuntu 12.04 lts, 64 bit

On both systems the behavior is exactly the same, and since I used these system with other cards my feeling tells me there's no hardware defect on the boards, cpus or rams.

More Information about hardware:

- The original cooler as been removed and replaced with EK Watercooling blocks. They are connected in serial with a watercooling bridge. The cooling flow works fine
- There are no extender cables/risers involved. All cards sit directly on the board
- All cards run headless, none of them is connected to a monitor

Heat: The GPU's run at ~40c on idle and increase to ~55c under load before the OS hangs. There's no special heat threshold that lead to OS hangs, it happens somewhere > 50c.
Power: each GPU has a dedicated 700W power supply

Things I tried to change:

- Tryed with catalyst 14.4 and 14.6 beta on both systems, always ran amdconfig --initial -f --adapter=all afterwards and rebooted
- Updated the Mainboards bios to the latest versions (1803)
- Updated the GPUs bios to the latest versions (F72)
- Manually switched PCI-E settings in bios to from x16 to x1
- Manually disabled ASPM in bios
- Underclocked the cards to stock hd7970 settings (925/1375)
- Attached original fan to fan-plug on the cards
- Switched the GPU positions from 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 1, etc..
- Disabled iommu on kernel commandline
- Blacklisted mei and mei_me modules
- Tried only with 2 cards
- Tried both, ALU intensive and memory intensive algorithm

One thing to note is that when I disabled X11 (so that ADL can't work and oclHashcat can not read temps etc) it looks like this:

Quote:Speed.GPU.#1...: 15891.9 MH/s
Speed.GPU.#2...: 0 H/s
Speed.GPU.#3...: 0 H/s
Speed.GPU.#*...: 15891.9 MH/s

... and when I then continiously press "s" it seems #1 continues to work ...

But when I have X11 enabled and temps are read, it always looks like this:

Quote:[s]tatus [p]ause [r]esume [b]ypass [q]uit =>

Speed.GPU.#1...: 15873.6 MH/s

The system is completely frozen at this point.

Another interessting thing is by looking at the lspci output the cards run on a different PCI-E speed and ignoring my manual x1 setting from bios:

This is from ubuntu 14.04.

At this point I'm stuck. I tried everything I could think of. The only thing that's left from my view is that the Z87 * boards are not capable to run three 7970 but that sounds to strange...

Stats Processor Spitting Out Junk

$

Hello,

I have an issue. I am using the latest hashcat utils and stats processor. I have an AMD Radeon 5650 with the latest APP SDK. Installing this fixed my initial problem where nothing appeared on the status screen. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit. The issue I am having now is with the stats processor. I used the example Atom showed for statsgen.exe and stats processor using the the rockyou.txt. My stats file size comes out correct and I am using windows.

The Example: http://hashcat.net/forum/thread-1265.html

When I enter the following command...
\statsprocessor.exe --pw-min 5 --pw-max --threshold 400000 rockyou.hcstat | C:\HashcatGUI_042\hashcat-utils-1.0\head -20....This is what I get.

Here is my output with the the same example but with this parameter added after the .hcstat file... ?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l. (Still not words but Junk)

No matter what I do the stats processor seems to output complete randomness with no words that make sense (I thought that was a part of the whole use of stats processor) and the threshold seems to have absolutely not impact and if I just let it go through all the iterations it seems to be doing a complete brute force with my specified --pw-min/max. I seem to be unable to make use of markov chain depth. When I use these parameters -1 ?l?d ?1?1?1?1?1...I do only get letters and digits but I still can't apply a threshold limit and I get complete junk even with my rockyou.hcstat file and the iterations proceed like bruteforce...forever and ever. Has anyone had this problem before? I am thoroughly confused and wondering if there is something wrong with my .hcstat files or if the stats processor is not working right on my system for some reason. There is nothing significantly usable for any intelligent attack with my stats processor attempts. It's now working it seems to be bruteforcing.

Here is another example on the website my results were the same here but I still don't understand why I have received the results above. Am I missing something?

The example given by: http://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=statsprocessor
My command and results:

\HashcatGUI_042\hashcat-utils-1.0\statsprocessor-0.083>sp64
.exe --pw-min 5 --pw-max 5 hashcat.hcstat ?l?l?l?l?l | C:\HashcatGUI_042\hashcat-utils-1.0\

Any help would be much appreciated. I am just trying to output something productive Thanks Everyone Smile

Update: I realized that the threshold only has no impact if it is above the number of characters I am using. I saw a major difference when with using --threshold 13 on this character set -1 ?l...the progression was now different I could see the threshold working. Can anyone elaborate. So I understand this better. I have the idea not that the threshold or number of characters added to the markov table has to be in the range of your character set is this correct. I wondering what I can do to produce results that are more realistic instead of random. This didn't work too bad but could I be doing something better. Thanks

Hashing a dic and adding it to POT

Is there a time benefit to hashing my common password dictionary and adding the results to my pot file?

please help! (with hash)

Hello,

I have a hard disk with one partition as a hidden truecrypt container. It contains my digital life of previous 10 years and as you guessed already I forgot the password!!

The password is quite long (20 chars) but I know most of it so I'm sure if I try a few thousands combination I will find it.

Now, when I attach the hard disk obviously I get an error that the partition is corrupt or unrecognizable. So I use WinHex to see the partition but I don't know part exactly should I copy and paste in the Hash area of the program.

At the end of partition there is nothing (mostly zero or some text) and if I copy the first 512 byte and paste in the program I get this error that it's not a hash (or something similar).

I encrypted with this settings: sha512, aes-xts-plain64

Please help me!
Cheers

Large hashfile - no result - SHA512

I have a hashfile that is 40 mb large it contains usernames and SHA512 hashes. (FYI: I've tried with just the hashes, making the file smaller in size).

When running oclHashcat with mode 1700 on a large number of rows, I get either no results or only one or two. Scaling the rows down to about 10k rows, using the same mode/syntax, gives me significantly more results ( strangely little though, about 10%).

This is not an issue of performance, since I've tried with a wordlist containing passwords I know for a fact is a part of the "hashspace". oclHashcat runs and exhausts itself on the wordlist but finds more cleartexts if I select fewer rows.

Any ideas?

AES Encryption

Hello Guys,

your crypto-knowledge is wanted Big Grin

At the moment i'm coding a program which should be able to keep the passwords of the users. Of course i don't want to save them in plain text, so i thought out sth.

The passwords will be saved AES256-CTR (i known that it doesn't have to do with hashes) encrypted, but this is secondary. I want to ask you, what you think about the key and IV generation.
So first the Key.
The key is at first about 70 characters long and consist of computer-specific things like OS or Username. To get to the 256 bit length, this key get hashed, using SHA256. So at the moment the key is on every PC Unique. But in the next time i want to make more unique.

Now to the IV. The IV is 128bit long and consist out of parts of the key, because i don't want to save the IV anywhere.

And after that, the Password gets encrypted. What do you think about it? Are there any weak spots, which i didn't care about?
Thanks for your replies Smile

overheating after upgrade

I have 3x 7970 in a case. I have two of these machines, both with the same issues.

I upgraded from oclHashcat 1.01 with Catalyst 13.12 (all worked fine) to oclHashcat 1.21 with Catalyst 14.4. Now I can't crack for longer than a minute or two because it overheats.

Previously the GPU temperatures stayed in 60's and 70's while cracking. Now it auto stops as it is supposed to when it hits 90.

Is this a driver issue? Or is something different going on in oclHashcat? I've seen a couple similar posts, but none of them seem to answer this question. My case has pretty good cooling.

Hi,

can someone confirm or not if there is a problem with this command :
hc -m xxx hashesfile --outfile-format=5 --show

for my test, I used xxx=111.

I should have hash[:salt]:hex_plain and the result is plain:hex_plain

Thanks for your help.

btw, great job Atom !;-)
