Hi,

I just registered to let you know of a bug I found. Not sure if it affects only me or if someone else might run into the same problem.

My setup:
Windows 7 64bit
cudaHashcat v1.21
Nvidia driver v332.88
CUDA driver v6.0.1
Device #1: GeForce GTX 670, 4096MB, 980Mhz, 7MCU
Device #2: GeForce GTS 450, 1024MB, 1620Mhz, 4MCU

The problem:
Whenever I run cudaHashcat (be it 32 or 64 bit, benchmark or a "real" run) I get the following error:

Quote:> cudaHashcat64.exe -b
ERROR: cuModuleLoad() 301

The solution:
I have added the folder to my PATH and I found that this only happens when type just "cudahashcat64" or "cudahashcat64.exe" (same for 32 bit). If I type the full path it works:

Quote:> D:\Apps\cudaHashcat-1.21\cudaHashcat64.exe -b

Does oclHashcat support using only EAPOL packets 1 and 2?

After the first 2 packets of the handshake are sent, which contain the anonce and snonce, one should be able to run the handshake to retrieve the PSK, yes?

Wireshark indicates both packets are in the capture, aircrack-ng tells me I have a valid handshake, it writes the hccap, which is successfully loaded into oclhc, yet it never yields the password, though it is in the dictionary.

Anybody know why?

Can anyone give me a help.

Hi guys,
I am trying to crack a WPA handshake via bruteforce, the password consists of eight capital letters. The command which I use in hashcat is the following:

hashcat -m 2500 -a 3 handshake.cap

Now, my question: when I tried the same via aircrack-ng and crunch, it was able to try about 1500 pw per second. Hashcat manages about 24MILLION per second
according to the status output that I get when trying to crack it. How is that possible?

Anybody doing this? There's no $$ just glory. It will (maybe) determine if using random words instead of random characters is a better password policy. A few sites use this method, notably counterwallet.co which issues the user 12 random words as a password.

Hi

I have a R9 290X and it's really faster, on the older hand my processor is not that great, just 2.8Mhz! LOL

When we work with wordlists such as doing sort, grep, uniq, etc it's very slow on big wordlists even with fast storage, I believe it's because they work with one single core that is not that powerful. Do you know a way to make sort, grep, etc work with all the cores at the same time on a big wordlist?

Or better yet, GNU tools such as sort, grep, ... version that is GPU oriented? This would be very helpful.

I goggled, but just found academic projects, no usable code. Or what approach do you use to speed it as most as possible?

Hello everyone, I have a 2 GPU rig previously used for mining that's hashing at a little over 2,000 MH/s. It's working on cracking an OS X v10.6 SHA1 key, and I'm not sure how long it would take. Any estimate?

Ubuntu 12.04 2+ GPU hanging

I'm trying to set up my rig according to epixoip's guide from the wiki (HOWTO: Ubuntu Server + AMD Catalyst + oclHashcat). I got it up and running on one R9 290 all right, 160-170 kh/s as advertised. But then I got a few problems - would be extremely thankful for someone helping me out as I've been bashing my head over this for the last 12 hours and it hurts.

I got six R9 290 and two PSU 1250 W each. I am trying to get running at least two of GPUs with one PSU (should be more than enough). Mobo is MSI Z77 (3x PCIE-16 + 4x PCIE-1). GPUs are 100% identical and I'm confident about them and other components.

I have no problem with one card in a PCIE slot - boots and works. However, when I take it out and attach to a riser (tried two different) it doesn't provide any video signal. I'm not sure if it does anything because it doesn't look like BIOS is loading at all (no signal, Ctrl+Alt+Del does nothing). It just hangs in a powered on state without output.

Once again, if I put the same card into PCIE-16, without a riser, it works like it should. Tried a few risers and slots for them, no luck. I'm not missing anything? Should I do something extra for risers to work?

Then I have tried putting two cards into PCIE - they boot okay but only into Windows 8 (on another drive I got). But I can't get them working in Ubuntu 12.04, it freezes upon boot, obviously when X tries to start. Once I remove one card it works okay. And if I put one card on a riser and another into PCIE even Windows won't boot - the same problem as above, no video output, no BIOS logo. Nothing.

Any idea why risers don't work and/or why Ubuntu freezes when I put on both cards?

I am building a rather large cluster of Jetson TK1 development boards and I have been investigating a means to implement CUDA based MPI and I found some interesting information: https://developer.nvidia.com/mpi-solutions-gpus

I started wondering how difficult it may be to use this with oclHashcat.

Does anyone else find the idea of distributing a workload across several GPU's in a cluster fascinating?

This is the readout before the 90c shutdown.

HWMon.GPU.#1...: -1% Util, 89c Temp, -1% Fan
HWMon.GPU.#2...: -1% Util, 77c Temp, 100% Fan

The GPU #2 never gets above 80c and I can run it for hours if I shut off GPU #1.

I have tested the fans in the BIOS diagnostics program and everything checks out. I have noticed that when the GPU fans kick on in windows it sounds like the damn thing is gonna take off (not in a bad way) but in Kali it's not near as pronounced.
I get about 4 minutes from start to program shutdown.
I have a CORE i7 processor and 2 Geforce GTX 675M GPUs.

I have googled this to death and have only found one guy on Twitter with the same readout joking about cooking an egg on his GPU, which was worse than finding nothing at all.
I have the newest proprietary drivers installed and am running Kali 1.0.7

I also tried this on the windows program with the same results.

I expected R290 to be extremely hot during full load but they don't even reach 80-85 C (with fan at 30-40%) - at least in Windows, in Ubuntu I used od6config to manually set fan speed but built-in hashcat's fan control was also good with sudden bursts of fans rotating at full speed.

On Win8 benchmark hanged on TrueCrypt 5.0+ PBKDF2-HMAC-Whirlpool + AES - screen would flicker and a message would pop up saying that ATI driver had failed but had recovered. Looks like the driver's issue because on Ubuntu (with the latest v4 Catalyst) it was fine.
