Several Words + #'s + characters

Dummy me made a password while under the influence for my KeePass.
I know I used several english words. They could be seperated by a space or without. There will also be a number involved and should end with punctuation marks.

so for example it could be "I am drunk on bourbon and this is my password 2020!"

I have a good word list that I think will work, but how do I run hashcat to hit the example password?

thanks

openssl AES256 with a common standardized Password-Based Key Derivation Function

Hello everyone,

i want to use hashcat to brute-force a password created by multibit classic bitcoin wallet. The wallet key backup uses the following openssl method to generate the backup:

openssl enc -p -aes-256-cbc -a -in \<plaintext file\> -out \<ciphertext file\> -pass pass:\<password\>

From my little knowledge, this is base64 decoded, salted with MD5 hash, so it could run really fast on GPUs.

In the multibit wiki, the followin is stated:

The whole private key file is encrypted. This uses AES256 with a common standardized Password-Based Key Derivation Function. For maximum compatibility I have used the same encryption methodology as in OpenSSL so you can also encrypt and decrypt the files using the command line utility 'openssl'.

Is it possible to use hashcat with it?

Issue Cracking Simple Password

Good evening. Iv been trying to crack my own wpa2 wifi password that I have set to password123.

I have created a simple wordlist just containing the one word and It finds it. However when I run it against a larger word list again with the word correctly in the file it fails to find it.

This is happening with AirCrack as well. Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong.

Im running on the Mac using:

hashcrack -m 2500 (name of file) (name of word list)

Thanks for any help its getting annoying now.

I have a ETH miner with 4 radeon 580 that I wanted to use to get the password from a hccapx file. I am using this tool found in this forum https://github.com/wpatoolkit/8-Hex-Generator . But it stops when I execute this line:

[Image: Captura.PNG]

I used -m 2500 for WPA, -a 3 to bruteforce and -D 2 to only use GPU. I tried to follow the instructions but I suppose I missed something that I can't see. Could something tell me what I am doing wrong? I copy the logs. Thank you very much.

Error in Self-test AMD Praphic

Hello, I'm new with hashcat, my problem is as follow:

I need to crack a veracrypt container, so i extraceted the hash, which is SHA512 with a cascade algorithm, I'm not sure which one, i created the container in agoust 2017, i'm fairly sure is a 3 cascade algorithm, but agian i'm not sure, now vaeracrypt have an algorithm call Kuznyechik(Serpent(Camellia)), does hashcat can decrypt 3 cascade algorithms? like the previous on or AES(Twofish(Serpent))?, anway, i am using a test container for testing, and when i start hashcat with the hash 13722(Im not sure if tha tis the correcet code, due to various options having the number 2, so i assume hashcat will use various), but it appear this:

* Device #1: ATTENTION! OpenCL kernel self-test failed.

Your device driver installation is probably broken.
See also: https://hashcat.net/faq/wrongdriver

The thing is that i just installed my windows, and inmediately installed the last version of my graphic card, is a RX 480, and the driver is the Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.1.3, so is the lasted approved; that is mainly my problem, how can i solve this if i have the latest driver, do i need something else? the AMD-APP-SDK 3.0 could help? I manage to find it, but I'm not sure if installing it would get it better or worse, thanks in advance.

One more question, I'm new and don't know much about the community or the team, so I would like to ask Will hashcat be updated anytime soon? i see that the lastest version was realsed in 2018, so i wanted to kno why.

Hashcat to find missing chars in a brainwallet passphrase?

Hello,
Is there any solution or implementation of hashcat to find a brainwallet passphrase through GPU ?
I have part of the passphrase and i'm trying to recover it. Brainflayer is too slow to perform bruteforce attacks or big wordlists attacks.

Thoughts on these chassis?

Checking these out on ebay... worried cooling might be an issue with 8 cards, but maybe 4 would be alright? Good price for the power supplies etc

Plus how neat would it be to say you use a cray super computer for cracking hashes Smile

Hi all,

I am a newbie/self-learning on security field and I was playing with hashcat to learn when I got stuck (on my first exercice Sad )

I created a file with a single line having the below hash.
I toke care to create using sublime_text, saving with encode UTF-8, checking for spaces or special characters (I removed the ones below from md5sum command output), but nothing helped to solve this.

$ echo "password" | md5sum > myhash

$ cat myhash

Unable to crack Excel 2007 password - what am I doing wrong?

Hello Smile

I have been wondering about why it seems to be impossible to crack a super easy password from an Excel 2007 document.
I have created two empty xlsx documents, one encrypted with one letter password: "C" and another one with one letter password "Ć" - this is a polish letter.

C in UTF8 is 0043
Ć in UTF8 is c486

I tried to crack the C password and of course succeded with this command to launch hashcat:
  • hashcat64.exe -a 3 -w 3 -m 9400 testhash-C.lst --hex-charset -1 0043 ?1
So i thought that it should work exactly the same way for the Ć password:
  • hashcat64.exe -a 3 -w 3 -m 9400 testhash-Ć.lst --hex-charset -1 c486 ?1
Of course the "Ć" password is exhausted and nothing seems to make it work.
I tried to break the hex values to base code and character code by using two separate charsets - still EXHAUSTED:
  • hashcat64.exe -a 3 -w 3 -m 9400 testhash-Ć.lst --hex-charset -1 c4 -2 86 ?1?2
Could you please tell me what am I doing wrong in this case?
I am attaching this empty file from Excel with Ć password - in case if it helps.

Thank you in advance!

Hello,

I’m new to this forum and hashcat in general and i would apreciate some help. I lost my phone data, but I have a iTunes backup on which I can’t remember the password. I experimented a little bit with hashcat, but i don’t know how to put together the command.

The password may have the first letter in big, and some numbers too maybe, i don,t know how to get this info in a command.

Thank you upfront and sorry for any spelling mistakes, English is not my first language.

I'm pretty much new to using hashcat, and I've been experiencing an issue which I just can't find an answer to.
I'm running the latest version of hashcat (5.1.0).

Code:
* Device #1: This hardware has outdated CUDA compute capability (3.5).
            For modern OpenCL performance, upgrade to hardware that supports
            CUDA compute capability version 5.0 (Maxwell) or higher.

* Device #1: WARNING! Kernel exec timeout is not disabled.
            This may cause "CL_OUT_OF_RESOURCES" or related errors.
            To disable the timeout, see: https://hashcat.net/q/timeoutpatch

* Device #2: Intel's OpenCL runtime (GPU only) is currently broken.
            We are waiting for updated OpenCL drivers from Intel.
            You can use --force to override, but do not report related errors.

nvmlDeviceGetFanSpeed(): Not Supported

nvmlDeviceGetClockInfo(): Not Supported

nvmlDeviceGetTemperatureThreshold(): Not Supported

nvmlDeviceGetTemperatureThreshold(): Not Supported

nvmlDeviceGetUtilizationRates(): Not Supported

It says my "NVIDIA has outdated CUDA", and that it's "waiting for updated OPENCL drivers from Intel", but when I tried updating them, windows says the best drivers are already installed. My NVIDIA is at version 382, whilst hashcat required 367 or later.

This is shown when typing -I:

Windows says I'm upto date with these drivers, so I'm not sure what's really going on.

I have a PDF 1.5 version that obviously used some backwards compatibility with it's encryption and used 40 bit RC4. I'm trying to brute force the key with mode 10410, although it doesn't look like an example in any of the modes. I only found this version posted twice online with no responses.

It starts with $pdf$1*3*40* and it tells me "salt-value exception".

PDF 1.3 is $pdf$1*2*40*

PDF 1.5 is typically $pdf$2*3*128* for 128 bit AES

So, I try manually correcting it to $pdf$1*2*40* instead of "3", and it tries cracking it but never finds the key.

Any thoughts?

is sorting wordlist by length needed?

From old wiki:

Quote:Hint: You can optimize your wordlists for oclhashcat-plus usage. You just need to sort them by their length. It is recommended that you generate seperate wordlists sorted by their length.

Does sorting wordlist by length gives any advantage in current version?
