Need a CPU for 15700 job (scrypt)

Hi everyone,

I've come to the conclusion im better off investing in a good CPU for trying to crack a 15700 wallet (scrypt) than renting out powerfull computers on AWS or digitalocean.

I was wondering if anyone have any experience on getting a proper CPU for the job?

I was looking at a 20+ cores cpu (XEON?) but couldn't find any benchmarks on this specific task.

Would love to hear any opinion you might have on the subject

thanks in advance!

I am desperate to break the password of my backup. I encoded the CD image and recorded it. Unfortunately, I can not remember the password for anything, but I remember what could be the string of letters.

Is possible to use hash cat for crack password diskcryptor?

I tried mount ISO image as truecrypt contener, but is Is't working.

Here is other mounted volume (for obtain information)

Hi, I receive the following error once I try an attack using -m 2500

* Device #1: Kernel /usr/local/share/hashcat/Open Cl/amp_a0.cl build failed - proceeding without this device.

The estrange thing is that everything works with a benchmark -b.

any idea of what could be causing that error? I have a 1060 gtx and Hashcat seems to recognize it:

powermi@HashTower:~$ hashcat -I

Brain with NetNTLMv2, WPA2, Kerberos TGS, etc.

Just to confirm, brain is pretty much worthless for these hash types correct? Even with --brain-client-features 2? I'm not sure if it's a bottleneck of my 100 Mbit LAN connection, but the most I can see with 8 GPUs for NetNTLMv2 for brain-features-2 is about 28,000 Kh/s. This is using a rockyou wordlist with best64 rules.

Without brain, that number jumps to the MH/s obviously.

Hello, I'm new using Hashcat and my setup has an old 560ti that gives arround 24000 H/s. And I'm thinking in getting another GPU that could give more H/s, as Im still trying dont wanna spend to much, and around 100€ would be mi limit.
would be a 7970 a good purchase? I could buy it for around 50, and also have the chance of getting a 6990 for 70.
or is just better to buy something newer?

thanks.

I have a question about the speed if I can increase it, as I'm using 2nd generation CPU (i7) with an express VGA card (Nvidia Gforce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB RAM) but the speed I'm getting is 32H/s
is that normal??
if not, how can I increase it?

Limit GPU usage on laptop?

Hi, bit of a newbie question here as I recently started using hashcat on a laptop. To prevent overheating, is there a setting I can use that will throttle Hashcat's GPU usage to say 30% of its maximum? Can't see anything in the --help list about it.

Determining which slot a GPU is in?

Is there a way to determine which card/slot is being assigned to Hashcat's hardware monitor? I have 7 identical cards in my rig but three seem to be running over 80+ degrees and I can't seem to determine which one it is inside my rig that I may need to shift around.

I know #8 is the GTX 1080, but unsure about the others. Is there an easy way to see which serial number/guid/etc. is assigned to each hardware monitor?

precomputation

Hello,
I want to precompute a hash that is fairly slow and is not salted. How can you precompute the values of the hash and the cleartext value of the password? That way you can feed hashcat just the hashed value and won't take nearly as long.

Hello,

I want to precompute a hash that is fairly slow and is not salted. How can you precompute the values of the hash and still have the cleartext value of the password? That way you can feed hashcat just the hashed value and won't take nearly as long.
How would you do that?

Need help with one word + lots of rules.

Hi everyone.

I have one password where I'm pretty sure i mistyped one of the letters, could be one of the special letters (just one of them) or upper\lower case or maybe just one letter to each side of the original letter(typo).

I am trying to run this specific word with combination of different kinds of rules from the rules directory
but when running hashcat I get about half the speed( using CPU as its 15700, from 12 h/sec i only get 4h/sec)
- is there anyway to solve this?

The way I ran it is putting the specific word in a txt file and use that as a word list together with the -r toggle for rules.

Just for the information of it - the password is in this structure: Hretdada45! (11 characters all together)
and im trying to run every possible rule I can and hope It was really just a mistype.

Thanks for any replier\helper!

Hi all. I'm new in the forum. I have a question, I want to run hascat with an intel gpu onboard, cpu and amd rx580 and hd 7770. In windows 10 I have problem with opencl. When I install the intel, the one of amd and visceversa is disinfected. In windows 7 there is no problem with opencl. The two coexist well and none is disabled but when I run hashcat it throws errors in all the versions. Is there a way to solve this? Thank you very much to all

Should these all be in hashcat's working directory? Or can I move them all to another folder and define the working directory in an argument like --brain-working-directory ~/brain_files
