I keep hitting an issue when loading SHA-1 hash files that are over 200+MB in size. I have tested on a diff laptop with a lower end GPU 'Quadro m2000m and do not see the issue happening. The affected host has 8GB of system ram running the latest Ubuntu LTS release, where as the working host has 48GB on Windows 10. Not sure if this is affecting it or not.

Hashcat Verion: 4.1.0

Command being run: ./hashcat64.bin -m 100 -D 2 --remove HASHFILE -o OUTPUTFILE WORDLISTFILE

Below is the output of hashcat -I & clinfo.

Potfile entries and output file

If I have a large potfile of previously cracked hashes, and cracking on some more hashes while outputing to a file.
Will the hashes found inside the potfile be added to the output file automatically?

It seems to be removing the hashes from the file of hashes being cracked on currently, however not adding them into the output file. Is this the expected behavior or am I understanding it wrong?

Please advise.

Thx

Hey guys, I am having a really strange issue I cant figure out.

I am trying to recover the password for a clients ether wallet and having some trouble.

I ran ether2john.py on the json keystore file and tried cracking it with -m15700 (scrypt wallet) I keep getting the error Line-length exception which does not make sense to me as I am useing the proper mode and using the direct output from ether2john.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Encrypted iTunes backup impossible to unlock

Hi everyone

I am pretty new to this but somehow iTunes created an encrypted backup with a new password. Usually it would use the password used for the previous backups which is not the case. I have tried 2 softwares to brute force it already but it is taking too long ( 1 week + already).

I am in desperately need of help, I have got 10 years worth of pictures on that backup and in the meantime I broke my iPhone which got reset by these Apple Geniuses.

I will take all the help that I can get. I have a modest sum of 50$ in btc as a reward ( not sure that I can do this here) for a kind soul that will agree to help.

Thanks a lot!

What does this deal with?

ATTENTION! Pure (unoptimized) OpenCL kernels selected.
This enables cracking passwords and salts > length 32 but for the price of drastical reduced performance.
If you want to switch to optimized OpenCL kernels, append -O to your commandline.

Fan speed problem with hashcat

Hi, I have problems to set fan speed when using hashcat.
Card is 1050ti with passive cooling until a certain temperature has not been reached ( fans start to spin on about 50 degress ).
I m using msi after burner and manually set the fan speed and all is ok and working wel untill I use hashcat, when I for example set fan speed to 70% and then starts hashcat it works well couple of minutes then it resets it to default value and all the times situation is the same..

So I cant set manually fan speed if I m using hashcat. Anyone with this problem ?

Hello guys i have some problem i have use this help from forum

- Uninstall the AMD driver
- Reboot
- Manually remove opencl.dll and opencl32.dll from system32 and syswow64
- Reboot
- Install AMD driver 15.12 exactly
- Reboot

when i use benchamrk i see this

* Update your OpenCL runtime / driver the right way:
  https://hashcat.net/faq/wrongdriver

because first i can use haschat on cpu but is very slow but when i uninstal reboot itc i run haschat 4.0.1 and i check bencmark and i have that results

hashcat64.exe --benchmark
hashcat (v4.1.0-2-g8079abff) starting in benchmark mode...

Benchmarking uses hand-optimized kernel code by default.
You can use it in your cracking session by setting the -O option.
Note: Using optimized kernel code limits the maximum supported password length.
To disable the optimized kernel code in benchmark mode, use the -w option.

* Device #7: Not a native Intel OpenCL runtime. Expect massive speed loss.
You can use --force to override, but do not report related errors.
* Device #9: Intel's OpenCL runtime (GPU only) is currently broken.
We are waiting for updated OpenCL drivers from Intel.
You can use --force to override, but do not report related errors.

speed reduce in using rules to generate keys

$

Hello!

In the Rule-based attack, i want to store the generated keys, so i use the "--stdout" switch, for example,
"./hashcat64.bin -r ./rules/rockyou-30000.rule --stdout dictionary.txt".

My dictionary is large enough, but i find the speed is much lower than expected, both cpu (with "-D 1") and gpu (with "-D 2").

Even if i use "./hashcat64.bin -r ./rules/rockyou-30000.rule --stdout dictionary.txt >/dev/null" to reduce the time used in printing screen, the speed is still very low.

What's the reason for the slow down? and how can i reach the expected speed?

SHA1_HMAC for unknown text

$

Im interested in brute-forcing known_hosts files for SSH, these look like this:

|[int]|[base64 SALT]|[base64 TARGET] ssh-rsa [base64]

These are SHA1_HMACs of the IP address or hostname where the Text (not the salt or key) is the password. (The Int at the beginning of the string defines the type of SHA hash e.g. 1, 256, 512).

e.g. if hmac.new(SALT, GUESS, sha1).digest() == TARGET then you have a match.

Hashcat has the modes 150 and 160 but nothing for unknown Text. Would it be hard to add support for this? I think it has some valuable uses when identifying hosts to move laterally within networks.

Difference between bruteforce and password list for WPA cracking

Hi

I'm playing with hashcat and my wifi and there is something I don't get.

If I save password to file and run hashcat with this command:
./hashcat -w 4 -m 2500  Dump.hccapx pwd_list

I get it cracked without problems, as the password is the only line in file

Session..........: hashcat

But if I do bruteforce attack on the same file with mask it doesn't work, it cannot find password. Command I run is:

./hashcat -w 4 -m 2500 -a 3 Dump.hccapx -1 ADF 071?1?1?d?1?1?14

And this is the output:

Any ideas why? I can't see that I'm doing anything wrong with the parameters given to hashcat.

Variable mask in the middle of the password

$

I have a relatively long string (36 characters plus) that is of the form prefix<password>suffix, where prefix and suffix are completely static. I wanted to use a mask in the middle but I can't seem to figure out from the various documentation if that's actually possible, if I need the mask generator or if there's a smarter way. The best approach for me would be to be able to throw in a dictionary for the middle value first for the easy cases and then do with the mask-based brute force approach. I suppose I can write a rule that does prepend and append at the same time and that's easy. But I can't figure out how to combine that with masks and/or increments. I suppose if I need to implement the incrementing manually on each step that'd be fine though.

Any pointers are appreciated, happy to dig further myself once I know what the right track could be. Thanks!

Hey, Im really new to this just started sorry if this is quite noobish.
Im trying to crack a sha 256 encryption, if I try the command "hashcat64.exe -m 1400 -a 3 -o cracked.txt hash.txt" everything works fine the problem is when i try to use mask I tried the command "hashcat64.exe -m 1400 -a 3 -1 ?1?d hash ?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l -o cracked.txt hash.txt"  and I get the error "Hash 'hash': Line-length exception No hashes loaded."

What I want to do is to test only the possiblities that have 64 characters with "abc(..)z0123456789"

Hi,

I would like to crack this kind of password :

Code:
user\trandom
"user" is constant
"\t" : tab : 0x09
"random" : password I want to guess, i.e. in my wordlists
I tried :

Quote:hashcat  -a 7 -1 "user" --hex-charset -2 09 hashfile ?1?2?a?a?a?a?a?a words.dic
Results :
Code:
Invalid hex character detected in mask user

How can I mix the ascii charset with hex charset ?
Thank you.

I've used 7z2hashcat to create a hash of my 7z file, however, it seems to me that the [salt] seems to come out blank.

When I try to load my hash with hashcat 4.1.0, I get the following error:

I'm not sure what I've been doing wrong here, I've used the latest's windows build of 7z2hashcat, as well as a git cloned copy for Ubuntu. Both hash outputs seems to be exactly the same.

Appreciate anyone who can help me out.
