VCL/IB cluster Kali vs Ubuntu

Many VCL/IB/Catalist-cluster-environments/howtos are Ubuntu-based. I am wondering why, because many standardtools included in Kali or BT could take advantage as well of such a Cluster...

Why is Ubuntu the recommended distro for this environment?
